The children and staff at SPSP came back after lockdown and the Summer break to an exciting new addition in the playground – a brand new play frame, donated by the Friends of SPSP – the school’s fund raising committee made up of parents, grandparents & Trustees.
Inspired by the school’s 75th anniversary, the Friends set out on a fund-raising challenge to raise money to buy a new play frame. After designing the perfect wooden structure, the group sourced this from local business Jungle Gym production facility at Markham Vale.
Chair of the Friends and parent, Lucy Hinchliffe said “SPSP is a small school with a big heart ,we were overwhelmed with the generosity of parents and friends at our fundraising events. Everyone has been busy making jams, crepes, pick and mix bags, decorations – all to raise funds for the school. The School events take a lot of organising and the Friends put a lot of hard work in but the result is this amazing play frame, we couldn’t be happier “.
Chris Ball , parent and Trustee who helped to build the play frame added, “it’s a testament to all the great work that the school do , that the parent body wants to give something back, especially after such a difficult year with the lockdown and Covid. This gives the children a fantastic playframe to burn off their energy and be imaginative – it was worth all the hard work and the blisters to build it.”
Jil Phinn, Headteacher was full of praise saying “ The Friends group is a vital part of the school , they are a fantastic support to our staff and children and approach their fund raising with huge enthusiasm, no challenge is too big ! They are always looking for volunteers, so if you feel you can help then please get in touch.“
