SPSP joined The Big Assembly 2020. This is an initiative funded by The Diana Award and Nationwide Building Society as we reminded everyone of the need for mutual respect in our school and community.
Together, we pledged to put an end to bullying, celebrate diversity and create communities of kindness.
Having watched the Big Assembly video ,we wanted to show our solidarity for the cause of Anti Bullying and use a rainbow as a symbol of the power of coming together as a whole SPSP school community.
Our Head Boys – George & Charlie told us ” …we wanted to involve all the children , the teaching staff and the support staff in this project, so we all cut out a “helping hand” as a symbol of our Guiding Star value of Care…”
Devonshire House Captain, Holly continued …….” We all talked with our classmates and teachers about bullying and how we could be kinder and our challenge was to think about the five people who would listen to us and help us if we had a problem and to write their names on each finger of the hand.
Mr Scott Nixon, our Designated Safeguarding lead said “the children came up with the concept of using a rainbow and the colours as this was such a powerful image of hope for them especially this year. Our school is a caring and inclusive community and the class workshops came up with some great debate and ideas which we will re-visit in Anti Bullying week in November.”
