PE is an important part of life at SPSP and plays a major role in our curriculum
It is integral in supporting the children’s health and well being as well as their fitness. It encourages independence, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship and fair play.
Throughout the school, a varied programme is delivered by a team of specialists to allow each and every child to develop their fundamental skills, to experience a wide range of activity and find a form of physical activity they can enjoy.
All children follow a PE programme which covers fundamental skills, athletics, dance and gymnastics, invasion, net /wall and striking and fielding games, Alongside this, the children are taught the skills to experience and enjoy team sports.
Children participate in a traditional games session each week in Prep, where they are taught to play a range of team sports including rugby, hockey, football, netball, cricket and rounders. The children take part in competitive fixtures against other local schools and during ‘house’ events, including our sports’ day – the final event of our sporting year.
In Pre-Prep, weekly swimming forms part of our curriculum where the children are taught stroke technique and water safety. In Prep, children follow an enhanced swimming curriculum during our Life Skills programme.
Sport at SPSP is about enjoyment, development and participation for all.
