Year 5 led and performed their Rainbow Harvest Festival Assembly to parents and children this morning and opened the SPSP Chesterfield Foodbank Appeal. The Project Co-ordinator, Roisin O’Gorman reached out to the school to ask us to partner with them once again in 2021 and we are delighted to help partner with them.
The Chesterfield Foodbank help individuals in crisis in our local community, since March 2020 they have given out over 82 tons of food, distributed in 8,000 food parcels, sadly over a third of these were to families with children. They are asking us to help them feed local people in crisis by collecting tinned and dried food and give such items as Fruit Juice ( long life), tinned meat, tined fish, UHT milk, Rice pudding, small packets of tea and coffee. 1 in 5 people in the UK live in poverty and those families who have hit crisis may not be able to afford food.
We are looking forward to be able to pull together and provide the Foodbank with essential supplies to help local people in crisis. Thank you from Year 5 and all the children in helping SPSP provide food for our local community.
