A time for Care and Being Thankful ,this is where our school community and children give thanks for all the good things that we have in our lives. At school we regularly remind our children how fortunate they are in life and to think about those less fortunate than themselves and how we can support our wider local community. This year the children have organised a charity dress down day for a £1 donation and the annual collection of long life, non-perishable food and toiletry items urgently needed by the Chesterfield Foodbank. The Trussell Trust support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for support a nationwide network of food banks and together they provide emergency food and food banks in the UK.
On their drive to school, Ed and Stan regularly go past a group of local people who are in crisis and are living on the streets– this has prompted the boys to ask questions about the causes of homelessness and a class chat in PHSEE and has resulted in the boys wanting to do a bit more this year for the Trust and demonstrating their SPSP Guiding values, which we hope all our children will use throughout their lives.
A huge thank you to all our children and families for all their very generous donations to the Trust and we hope this will support them in their ability to provide three day emergency food supplies given to adults and children locally.
