Year 6 were very honoured that Chesterfield Borough Council’s Civic Office and the Mayor invited us to attend the 11th Hour Service of Remembrance on Thursday 11th November at 11.00am.
It was a beautiful morning when Mr Marsh drove us into town before the roads were closed, we saw representatives from the Services, Royal British Legion, Mayoral and Civic guests. The Service took place at the War Memorial on Rose Hill, in front of the Town Hall and it was very moving as we remembered the Fallen.
After the service, we were very excited to have our photo taken with the Colour Sergeant Oliver Lloyd who was the Parade Commander, and the Mayor and Consort were waving at all the school children from the window of the Town Hall beforehand and then we got to chat with them later and look at their gold office chains.
Back at SPSP, the rest of the children hold their own Remembrance Service outside the school in front of the Union Jack.
